Locked In – Review
Locked In – LMN – 2 hours and 0 minutes
Chris, Ann Marie, and their daughter Taylor sit for a family dinner. While discussing right and wrong, they hear a noise in their barn. During Chris’s investigation, he finds a man digging in his barn. They fight and the man gets Chris’s gun; then shoots Chris. Chris dies in his wife’s arms. Two years later Ann Marie has agoraphobia and Taylor is working the land. She also wants Taylor to stay home during college. Taylor wants her mom to get better so she can leave the home that has become a prison. Later, Taylor finds a note that states, “If anything happens to me, you’ll know where to find it. Just keep my family out of it!!”. On the back of the note, there is a map that leads straight to their barn. In the barn, Taylor finds a lot of money and a gun. She immediately calls her boyfriend Blake. He wants to give the money to the police, but Taylor sees the money as a way to fix her life. Taylor’s mind is made up until a stranger comes knocking.
This movie uses a slow build to spark interest and build up mystique, but it just takes too long. You will lose interest in this movie and become overly critical of the mother’s action. But make sure you pay attention the dinner conversation in the first 5 minutes of the movie. It’s there to give the watcher a perspective on what Ann Marie believes in when it comes to right and wrong. While the acting is done to the perfection, it can’t win against a boring and lackluster script. This movie just felt like it took too long and the watcher will quickly lose interest. This movie can be skipped.

Tiffany Haddish: She Ready! From the Hood to Hollywood! – Showtime – 1 hour and 5 minutes
Tiffany Haddish takes the stage in her hometown of LA. Shot before Girls Trip and after Keanu, Tiffany talks about her tough and painful beginnings. However, it’s those beginnings that made her who she is today. Growing up in group homes and foster care, she lived with different types of people and it made her a well-rounded person. She had a moment when she lived in a car, dealt with a horrible relationship, and buried a family member on her road to Hollywood but she did it with positivity and a sense of humor. In an hour, you will learn why she is a black unicorn who refuses to be rent-to-own with the key to the matrix and a Groupon in her MLK bag.
Tiffany Haddish delivers an hour of pure comedy. She delivers great story telling that feels like a personal conversation. She leaves politics alone and only focuses on making the crowd laugh by using her story of triumph and success. She is an example of making lemonade out of lemons. She speaks on the impact Kevin Hart and Jada Pinkett-Smith in her life. She dreams bigger now because she has always had to. She is a shining light of not just overcoming circumstances but using them to be better and the first black unicorn. Sit back and get ready to laugh purely from the joy from which she cursed you. This comedy special should have been longer, the hour went by way too fast.

Garage Sale Mystery: Murder By Text – HMM – 2 hours and 0 minutes
Jenn and Danni are awestruck when a homegrown famous singer John Dalton walks into their store. He says he is in town to do a private show for fan club members. Although Jenn and Danni can’t come to the show, they are invited to the sound check. While at the sound check, the bass guitarist Lita is missing. John’s wife, Pamela gets a text message from Lita stating, “I can’t do this anymore. Love you all, good bye”. John grabs Cassie and head to Lita’s home. Cassie, the manager, has keys to everyone’s home, so she lets them in. John and Cassie are shocked to find Lita hanging and dead. Seeing the scene, everyone says suicide. However, Jenn sees murder. Jenn sees that Lita was making future plans and preparing for her own singing career. Jenn starts to ask questions. She learns that John is a wreck, Pamela is dead set on suicide and could careless, and Cassie had an extra set of keys. And just when Jenn’s head is swirling with possibilities, she gets a surprise. Lita’s husband Bo. Detective Lynwood looks into Bo and learns he has an insurance policy on Lita. With so many suspects, can Jenn solve the crime and convince the police there was a crime? Of course, she can. Don’t believe it. Just watch. LOL.
Based on the Garage Sale Mystery Series by Sherry Harris, this is one to watch. With so many suspects and different motives, it’s fun to try to figure out everything that happened with Jenn. Just when you believe you have it all figured out, you get a curveball, or shall we say, a husband. This movie is funny and engaging. This is one of the best in the movie series. It is pure Jenn. However, the coroner’s funny banter is missing. Sit back, get some wine, and watch.

Summer at the Vineyard – Review
Summer at the Vineyard – HMM – 2 hours and 0 minutes
Frankie and Nate have bills due and want to ensure the success of their vineyard, along with their relationship. They hope that the Summer Art Walk is the best place to show off their first vintage wine. Nate plans to cook a few hors d’oeuvre with Frankie’s wine. It feels like a great plan but Frankie doesn’t feel like her wine is ready. She slowly crumbles while hiding this secret from Nate. She hopes she can speed up the aging process before Nate knows or they could lose the vineyard. On the other hand, Nate heard that the Summer Art Walk was going to be canceled because the host’s road is closed due to an accident. But he decides to host it at their vineyard, without telling Frankie. Also, Nate created a new fertilizer and sprayed it all over the vineyard, now the plants are dying. With days before the Summer Art Walk, Frankie and Nate are keeping secrets from each other. But with the vintage not ready and the grape vines dying, will the communicate or have to sell the vineyard?
Based on Summer in Napa by Marina Adair, this isn’t a Hallmark love story (FTC Affiliate Disclaimer). It’s a lesson in communication. This couple keeps acting as individuals, even dividing the jobs at the vineyard. This division is causing a huge mess of the crops and ultimately, the wine. This lack of communication then trickles into their relationship. It’s frustrating to know that they need to talk to each other to fix their problem, but they are just too bull headed to do it. However, that is a huge reality for relationships these days. There is not enough communication. So, watch this movie and analyze your communication in your relationship. Not just your partner’s.
